Associate Professor of Mathematical Analysis, Department of Mathematics, University of Genoa
Principal Investigator at MaLGa – Machine Learning Genoa Center

I work on inverse problems for partial differential equations and on the mathematics of machine learning for imaging. My research ranges from uniqueness and stability for Calderón-type problems to generative models, learned regularizers and operator learning, with applications to medical imaging and physical sciences.

Research

01

Inverse problems for PDEs

Uniqueness, stability and reconstruction for Calderón's inverse conductivity problem and related problems, including electrical impedance tomography, recovery from finitely many measurements, and models of electrolysers.

02

Generative models for inverse problems

Diffusion and flow-based priors, manifold-aware sampling and generative models in infinite dimensions, applied to posterior sampling, EIT and MRI.

03

Learning regularizers & operators

Statistical learning theory for regularization functionals, sparsity-promoting priors, and physics-informed kernel methods for learning operators between function spaces.

04

Compressed sensing & imaging

Infinite-dimensional compressed sensing for inverse problems, with applications to photoacoustic tomography, the sparse Radon transform, deconvolution and MRI.

I have also worked on complex and hypercomplex analysis and on theoretical economic geography, including market areas in general equilibrium.
